Meet the Author: Lunchtime debate on “The EU as Guardian of Internet Privacy”

The Brussels Privacy Hub launches a new series of events. Authors of recent books and articles will present their book or article before a critical audience. Two famous experts in the field will give their review, followed by a Q & A on some crucial questions.

This first event will be dedicated to “The European Union as Guardian of Internet Privacy, The Story of Art 16 TFEU” by Dr Hielke Hijmans. This book examines the role of the EU in ensuring privacy and data protection on the internet and shows that EU powers can be successfully used in a legitimate and effective manner and that this subject could be a success story for the EU, in times of widespread euroscepticism.

Dr Orla Lynskey from the London School of Economics and Christopher Docksey, until very recent Director of the EDPS, will be the main discussants; Prof Christopher Kuner will lead the session.
